Avanti Wellness & Rehabilitation at 6840 West Touhy Avenue, Niles, Illinois.

I don't know where these 3 & 4 stars reviews came from. Too many problems to describe them all. Here's a few:

Nurses didn't wash hands prior to peritoneal dialysis setup, nor did they wear masks. In fact, they contaminated everything so I made them stop. Nurses were very nervous about the setup, even though they were given in-service and that the PD machine explains everything, step by step.

Nurse didn't know how to administer nitro sublingual pills for the patient having persistent and worsening chest pain, a heart attack. The patient had to give the nurse instructions.

Smokers were constantly outside, right at the entrance of facility. Apparently allowing those of us non-smokers to enter without second-hand smoke was not important, even when brought to desk person's attention.

There were black particles on the air-conditioner. I think this is why the patient developed a cough and wheezing and had to be on oxygen.

The bathroom stank of mildew and algae.

The food was nasty.

These issues might be due to lack of experience and limiting resources. I'm not saying Avanti does not have the
money.
